This presentation explores why solar energy is becoming an increasingly important solution for Alberta communities, with a focus on condominiums and shared properties. It begins by explaining why solar matters in Alberta, highlighting rising electricity costs, grid volatility, sustainability goals, and Alberta’s strong solar potential due to high sunlight exposure.

Attendees are then introduced to how solar works, including the basic technology behind solar panels, inverters, and grid connection. This foundation leads into a focused discussion on how solar systems are designed and implemented for condos, addressing shared ownership structures, common-area power usage, and system sizing.

The presentation outlines the financial benefits of solar, such as long-term energy cost reductions, predictable operating expenses, and protection against future rate increases. Beyond dollars and cents, it also covers community and owner benefits, including increased property value, enhanced ESG credentials, owner satisfaction, and environmental impact.

A dedicated section reviews Alberta-specific incentives and real-world case facts, showing how provincial policies and market conditions support solar adoption. This includes an explanation of Alberta Power Bill Credits, net billing, and how excess energy generation can directly offset electricity costs.

Common concerns and misconceptions are addressed in frequently asked questions, covering topics like maintenance, roof integrity, system lifespan, insurance, and governance approval processes.

The presentation concludes with next steps, outlining what boards and property managers can expect from an initial solar assessment through installation and ongoing operations, followed by an open Q&A session to address attendee-specific questions.
